Happy New Year Yummy Yogini Readers! I’m sure you’re all gearing up for a new you in 2014, but instead of resolutions, try creating a vision board so that you can look your goals right in the face! On my vision board last year, to the right, is a picture of my Gram who I cannot wait to see this year for sure. Although I’m bummed I didn’t make a trip home happen this year, I’ve saved the money so that I can celebrate her 90th birthday with her in May. Things I did however accomplish included more day trips to places like Santa Barbara, Solvang and Big Sur. I started eating more protein in the form of nuts and the hard boiled egg I start my day off with now. I finally took a surf lesson but I’ve yet to go out again on my own. I’ve tried to be the most positive person I know, but that comes rather easily because I can’t stand to be a Debbie Downer. And lastly, I started walking more which led me to clean up my diet and lose those extra pounds that were weighing me down!

Thanks to my vision board, all this, and more to come, is possible. So get out your pictures, old magazines, scissors, glue stick and construction paper… and get moving… the year will be over before you know it! I’ll leave you with my favorite blessing from the poet Joyce Rupp and….. a HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too!

A New Year Blessing

I hope for you, Yummy Yogini Reader, in this new year…

That the single, most significant dimension of life is your relationship with the Source of Goodness who never ceases to sing love songs to your soul

That you find meaning, purpose, and vitality in what you do daily

That you treasure your loved ones and let them know how dear they are to you

That you make choices and decisions that reflect your truest self

That you look in the mirror at least once a day and smile in happy amazement

That you remember relationships are what count above all else – more than work or money, or all the material things we spend so much time tending

That you live in an uncluttered manner, enjoying the freedom to be content

That you keep your sense of humor when things don’t go the way you want

That you find adventure in each new day and marvel at the wonders of creation
which constantly present themselves to you

That you never give up on yourself when others turn away or do not understand

That you are attentive to the health of your body, mind and spirit

That you take risks and accept the growth-full challenges that come to you

That you draw on your inner strength and resiliency when you are in need

That you carry peace within yourself, allowing it to slip into the hearts of others
so our planet becomes a place where violence, division, and war are no more

Namaste
