Namaste Yummy Yogini Readers. Today I am asking for your help after my husband Andy was in a very serious and traumatic scooter accident on Monday night and has been in the CCU at Marian Hospital in Santa Maria, California since. To make a long story short, the police think there was a huge eucalyptus branch lying in the road from the storm on Sunday and he likely hit that and was thrown off the scooter. He was wearing his helmet but the impact made the helmet fall off and his face was badly bruised and fractured as a result. He has no brain, neck or spine inquires and the doctors tell me he’s very very lucky to be alive. We have no idea how long Andy was on the side of the road until someone noticed him and called 911. So if you’re out there and you saved him, you have the best karma coming your way!

The staff here at Marian is amazing. I have this new found respect for all of you nurses out there who do ALL the work and then let the doctors receive the credit. The simplest things have made such an impact on me. When he had a breathing tube in, the nurses washed his hair and combed it and they even brushed his teeth. I understand now why Marian’s slogan is “Hello humankindness” because it is absolutely everywhere in this hospital. Two of the ER doctors that admitted Andy are friends of mine and I keep running into staff and nurses who take my yoga class throughout the county. It’s really nice to have so much support inside the hospital and Andy’s sister Jen has been right by my side through all of this, bless her heart.

We’re not sure when Andy will be able to leave and go home but he was just transferred out of the CCU (Critical Care Unit) and into his own room so we are able to snuggle together in his bed under his Chicago Bears blanket! And as soon as the bruising and swelling go down, he’ll be sporting his Cubs or Bulls or Blackhawks hat in no time! He does have a fractured jaw and will be on a soft food diet for at least a month… my Yummy Yogini recipes are going to come in handy, don’t you think?

I don’t even want to think about medical bills right now, I just want to concentrate on getting my husband better so that he can be cooking me food again! Priorities here! Most of his injuries are to his face and he will need cosmetic surgery in time that insurance may not cover, so I started a Go Fund Me campaign for his medical bills, prescriptions, etc. If you know me, I hate asking for help. But I recognize that I need to so I’m asking for your help today. Every cent raised will go towards Andy’s recovery so if you have an extra dollar or two to spare, he and I would appreciate it greatly. He has no idea I am doing this and as proud as he is, I know Andy will be giving me crap for this but I’m in charge now so there!

Thank you all for your kind words, positive thought, text messages, emails and prayers. Please continue as we need them right now! To help Andy, click HERE!
