I’m back from camping amongst the Redwoods at Fernwood Resort in Big Sur and boy do I feel rejuvenated! There’s something about that place, I don’t know if it’s the abundance of fresh air, wild animals roaming nearby, the sound of the river at night, or the hundreds of stars you can see in the sky. I’m a very spiritual person to begin with and I believe Big Sur to be a magical, spiritual place mostly because of how quiet and serene it is.

Morning meditation session.

Unless of course you are me and Andy and on night four of your “special” camping trip, you’re awakened by the sound of a non-stop barking dog (in his defense he was sprayed by a skunk) at 3 a.m. and just when you get back to sleep (after I stormed out of the tent and demanded to know why they couldn’t shut their dog up) the very same people’s small children get up at 6 a.m. and start screeching and playing amuck. So much for those “quiet hours” from 8-8 everyday. Ha! At least the first three nights were amazing! I started reading Life After Life by Kate Atkinson and it was the perfect sized book for camping at just over 500 pages!

Family Glamping!

I love setting up the tent and making it cozy with throw pillows from home and Christmas tree lights strung throughout the lingering branches. It also helps me see at night when I have to pee and don’t want to walk the dark way to the bathroom facility. Pop a squat eh? It’ll help open your hips… in yoga we call it Malasana! Haha! This time around we also brought a small stove with two burners on it and this was perfect for my morning green tea fix! And no camping trip is complete without lots of yummy wine, cast-iron cooking, trips to Julia Pfeiffer Beach (mainly for the dogs), several games of Uno and Dominos, (I dominated in both) and a few throws of the Horseshoe! (Andy beat me at something!)

Okay, so I discovered the best dessert/treat/snack this trip! Resses Peanut Butter Cup S’mores on Cinnamon Graham Crackers! Who would have thought?! This picture is so dark below but I had to remember that we threw this together and loved it! Just put a peanut butter cup on one side of your cracker and a toasted marshmallow in between and then squish them together. Delish! If you’re not camping, you can still use a skewer and your gas stove for this maneuver.

So that’s all for today.. I will be back tomorrow with a new juice/shake for your morning or afternoon delight and whatever it is I create for dinner this evening! I’ll leave you with some Yoga in the Kitchen shots I took this weekend as part of Alo yoga wear’s “Win a Free Pair of Goddess Leggings” challenge. Sadly I did not win but the girl who did totally rocked it… she got inside her refrigerator to pose! So creative! Thanks to my hubby for taking these pics of me too… as my Ma would say, he’s a really “good sport.”

If you want to see more Yoga in the Kitch pics and have Instagram, use the hashtag #alowypkitchen.

And yes, I have the smallest kitchen EVER!!!!
